Programme
Arrival in Lisbon at 22:15 local time. Welcome and transfer to the city centre. Check in Hotel Mundial 4* with central location and overnight accommodation. (Air tickets Sofia-Lisbon-Sofia are outside the package price and are paid separately).
After breakfast, a tour of Lisbon - the old quarter of the city with the Cathedral, the fortress „St. St. George's Monastery with a magnificent panoramic view; St. Geronimo”; the harbour with the white tower of Belem, the Statue of the Sailors, the squares „Rossio”, and „Comercio”, etc.
The city will captivate you with its unique charm and distinctive architecture. In the afternoon free time and in the evening /on request/ you can enjoy an authentic Fado evening that will reveal the true soul of the Portuguese. Overnight.
Breakfast and departure for Sintra/UNESCO/. Visit the most famous palace both in Sintra and in Portugal - Pena Palace. A romantic blend of different styles and influences, built by King Ferdinand II - a patron of art, music and literature of the 19th century, the palace strikes not only with its beautiful location and great views, but also with its remarkable architecture and history.
Then we will head to the Atlantic coast and visit the westernmost point of our continent - Cabo da Roca, where the waves of the sea crash with unceasing force against the majestic rocks of the cape. A stop on the way back in Cascais - the aristocratic resort of Portugal. Return to Lisbon and overnight.
Breakfast and departure for Offended (80 km) - one of the best preserved medieval towns in Portugal. Set on a hill and surrounded by imposing walls, the city will charm you with its authentic atmosphere. Walking around Obidouche is like travelling back in time - among the narrow streets you will find cosy craft shops, galleries and small cafes, all bearing the spirit of bygone eras. Be sure to try the famous Portuguese cherry liqueur, ginja, often served in small chocolate cups.
Continuation to Coimbra (135 km) - one of the most charming historical cities of Portugal. Here we will explore the famous University, founded in 1290 and recognized as a UNESCO World Heritage Site. Over the centuries it has established itself as a centre of knowledge where generations of nobles, intellectuals and public figures have been educated.
Followed by a visit to the magnificent Library of Joan of Arc - a true masterpiece of Baroque architecture. It impresses with its exquisite decoration, richly ornamented halls and priceless collection of rare antique books, which ranks it among the most beautiful libraries in the world.
Free time for lunch and departure for Porto (125 km)- Portugal's second largest city and its former capital. Accommodation in Eurostars Porto Douro 4* centrally located, on the banks of the Douro River. Overnight.
After breakfast, the day begins with a walking tour of the ancient city centre /UNESCO/ with its dramatic towering medieval walls, imposing baroque churches, the iconic Sao Bento station and the lively Ribeira river area, full of restaurants and cafes, right next to the river. Duro. We then take an iconic boat trip on the Douro River in a traditional Rebelo boat, and in the afternoon we will visit one of the city's famous Port wine cellars/tasting included.
Next, transfer to the airport and fly to Funchal, Madeira. Arrival, welcome and check in Pestana Carlton Ocean Resort 5*. Overnight.
Breakfast. The day starts with a guided sightseeing program in Funchal: the Old Town with the Cathedral and the local covered market offering a variety of flowers, tropical fruits and fresh fish. We continue by cable car to the wonderful botanical garden, located on one of the terraces high above the city with a rich collection of exotic plants.
In the afternoon, free time for a self-guided tour of Funchal or time to relax and enjoy the beach.
A day at the beach or the possibility of additional excursions around the island. You can opt for a full-day „Best of Western Madeira“ excursion, during which you will enjoy the impressive panorama from the glass platform of Cabo Girao, one of the most impressive sea cliffs on the island and among the highest in Europe. You will then have the opportunity to take a dip in the natural sea pools of volcanic lava at Porto Moniz. To finish, you'll climb to the Enquimeada lookout, located at 1007m above sea level, where you'll enjoy spectacular views of the island's north and south coasts.
Another option is dolphin and whale watching from the deck of a luxury catamaran with drinks and snacks included.
Breakfast, check-out and transfer to the airport for your flight to Lisbon. End of the program.
