Mexico - ancient cultures and Caribbean sun!

Arrival in the Mexican capital at 07:35. Reception and transfer to hotel ZocaloCentral4*, centrally located. Breakfast, refreshments and start of our tour of the political, financial and cultural center of Mexico City including: The central square, „The Great Temple”, as they call the last unique archaeological excavation at the end of the last century in central Mexico, Cathedral, The National Palace with the frescoes of Diego Rivera (outside only), Alameda Park and visit to the Palace of Fine Arts - Bellas Artes. Transfer and lunch in a typical Mexican restaurant. Walk in the picturesque Koyoakan, a famous artistic and bohemian quarter of Mexico City, where Diego Rivera, Frida Kahlo, Leon Trotsky and others have lived, among beautiful squares, fountains and churches that carry the colonial spirit. Free time and the opportunity to taste local specialties or, if you wish, visit the Frida Kahlo Museum. Return to the hotel, check in and free time. Overnight.

Breakfast. Departure for a full day walk in Puebla(130km,2h). The road passes by some of the highest mountains of Mexico, where some of the most powerful volcanoes rise. Arrival in Puebla /UNESCO/ ''City of Angels'', one of the most beautiful colonial cities of Mexico, famous for its superb cuisine, pottery traditions, the production of multi-coloured tiles (talavera)- an emblem of the local artisanal tradition and over 60 churches The churches and clock towers are built in the unique ''churrigueresco'' (Mexican Baroque) style and the bell tower of the Baroque Santo Domingo Cathedral has the tallest clock tower in Mexico. The town was first founded by the Spaniards in 1531, was named Cuetlaxcoapan or translated ''where the snakes change their skin'' and was located between two important settlements of the time, Tlaxala and Cholula.

Lunch included at a typical local restaurant and free time to visit the Parian market for souvenir hunting.

Departure to Mexico City and arrival at the hotel. Free time for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, departure for Teotihuacan - „Place of the Gods”, located 50 km north of Mexico City and referred to by explorers as the First Largest City, not only in the territory of Mexico, but in the entire New World. The city was the center of a thriving state that reached its heyday around the 2-3 century A.D. See the Pyramid of the Sun, the third largest pyramid in the world, the Pyramid of the Moon, the Citadel, the Boulevard of the Dead and the Temple of the Feathered Dragon, with huge ornaments resembling snake heads that definitely transport you to another world. Perhaps it is not really the „gods” but the insights, knowledge and rituals of this civilization that amaze scholars to this day. Tequila and mezcal tasting and lunch at Teotihuacan included. Return to Mexico City and en route visit the most revered religious temple in Latin America - Basilica of the Virgin of Guadalupe„. Followed by a visit to The Anthropological Museum - one of the ten museums in the world with the richest and most important collections, located in Chapultepec Park. Explore the main halls where artifacts and treasures from the Mayan, Aztec, Olmec, Toltec and other civilizations of ancient Mexico are displayed, including the restored tomb of the most famous Mayan ruler, Pacal the Great, and the Aztec solar calendar. Free time for dinner and overnight.

Breakfast and transfer to the airport for your flight to Mérida. Arrival around noon and departure for the ancient Mayan city Uxmal (distance Merida - Uxmal about 80 km). Lunch included at a local restaurant. Followed by a tour of the archaeological area, a UNESCO World Heritage site. Uxmal was a thriving city around 700 AD - when the many temples and palaces were built, including the Governor's Palace, one of the most beautiful buildings of ancient architecture. Uxmal is a real jewel and impresses with the craftsmanship of the details and ornaments on the buildings. They are arranged in an elegant composition of cut and painted stones - the main building material for the beautiful temples, palaces and pyramids of the Mayan civilization. Return to Mérida, panoramic tour of the city and check-in at the hotel. Gran Panamericana 4*, located near the historic city center. Free time for dinner and overnight.

After breakfast, depart for Chichen Itza, Mexico's most visited ancient Mayan city. The astronomical and mathematical knowledge of this ancient civilization finds its apogee here - the Pyramid of Cuculcan, the Temple of the Warriors, the Sacred Wells of the Senotes and the Observatory amaze not only with their perfect proportions and architecture, but also with their total engagement with the heavenly bodies and the cosmos. Lunch at a local restaurant and an afternoon of refreshing diving in the cenotes, one of the natural wonders of the Yucatán Peninsula. Continue to the most famous Mexican resort in the Caribbean, Riviera Maya (Distance Chichen Itza - Riviera Maya approximately 250 km, 2.30 hrs drive). Hotel accommodation Barcelo Maya Colonial 5*  on an All Inclusive basis. Dinner at the hotel and overnight.

Free day to relax on an All Inclusive basis and take advantage of all the services and facilities of the hotel.
