Programme
Departure from Sofia to Windhoek, with Lufthansa flight at 18:40, via Frankfurt. (Air tickets Sofia - Frankfurt - Windhoek are not included in the package price).
Arrive in the morning in Windhoek, the capital of Namibia.
Depart for the heart of the Namib Desert (330 km), the oldest desert on earth, formed under the influence of the cold Atlantic Benguela Current that washes the coast of southwest Africa. As you enter the Namib-Naukluft National Park, stop in the town of Solitaire to sample the famous apple pie and soak up the western atmosphere of days gone by with abandoned vintage cars in the area of the famous McGregor's Bakery. Late afternoon check-in at The Desert Grace Lodge 5* and time for refreshments.
The lodge is located in the heart of the desert, on the majestic red sand dunes, and the opportunity to watch the star-studded night sky is unique.
Lodge dinner and overnight stay included.
Breakfast. Departure to Sossusvlei, where you will enjoy the pastel colours of the huge sand dunes. The name Sossusvlei means „Place where water gathers“. Once upon a time, a river used to run by here and flow into the Atlantic Ocean 55 km from this place. Later, sand dunes blocked the river's path and now everything is overtaken by desert.
Walk in the Dead Valley of Dedvlei, which impresses with its lunar landscape of red dunes, white clay and petrified dried trees several hundred years old.
Climb Dune 45 on foot, which is one of the highest sand dunes in the world. The reward on arriving at the top is the wonderful and unforgettable panorama of the majestic desert.
On the way back, pass through the picturesque dry canyon of Sesriem with a photo break and hike. As the desert dunes recede, the waters of the canyon are lost somewhere in the depths, but once a year the water element reminds us of itself by filling the riverbed during the rainy season. Lunch included during the excursion.
Return to the lodge and free time to relax and refresh. Dinner and overnight stay included.
Breakfast. Departure for the Atlantic coast of Namibia (350 km) with photo stops at the Kuiseb River Canyon. Lunch included en route. Late afternoon, check in at Hansa HotelSwakopmund 4* in the resort town of Swakopmund. The town's name derives from a German phrase that literally means the mouth of the Swakop River. The town is a seaside resort and a fine example of German colonial architecture. It was founded in 1892 as the main port of German South West Africa. It is one of the few places outside Europe to have a significant German-speaking minority with German roots. Dinner included at the hotel restaurant. Overnight.
Breakfast and a short panoramic tour of Swakopmund to explore the sights of the city. Departure to the resort town of Walvis Bay (40 km), located in the bay of the same name. It is also Namibia's largest port and sea gateway to the world. A two-hour catamaran cruise follows with the opportunity to observe the Big Five of the Sea - dolphins, seals, turtles, whales and the exotic Mola Mola Fish (Sun Fish), reaching weights of over 2 tons. The cold Benguela Current brings a lot of plankton to this part of Africa and this determines the richness of the marine inhabitants here.
On board the boat you will taste the largest oysters in the world. Next, take a photo break at Dune 7, the largest in the world, located adjacent to Walvis Bay. Return to Swakopmund. In the afternoon you will have free time for sightseeing and shopping in this colourful town or if you wish you can visit the Skeleton Coast /60 km north of Swakopmund/. Here you will take beautiful pictures with the wreck of the shipwreck Zeila. Free time for dinner and overnight.
Breakfast. Departure to the capital of Namibia - Windhoek (320 km) with photo stops on the way. Lunch included in the colourful restaurant with its atmosphere. Joe's Beerhouse.
Next is a panoramic tour of the city including the Christuskirche Lutheran Church, the colonial railway station, the main administrative centre, Tintenpalas or “Ink Palace“ and the oldest building in the city, the Old Fort, built in 1915 and used as the headquarters of the German military during the colonisation of South West Africa, now the National Museum of Namibia. Accommodation in Weinberg Hotel 5*. Free time for dinner and overnight.
Breakfast and transfer to airport for flight to Victoria Falls, Zimbabwe. Breakfast at the hotel and departure by bus (90 km) to Chobe National Park, Botswana.
The full-day excursion includes a boat cruise on the tranquil waters of the Chobe River, a jeep safari through the reserve, and an included lunch at a lodge on the river. During the jeep safari, led by a local ranger, you will embark on a quest for close encounters with Africa's many wildlife - lion, elephant, giraffe, African buffalo, leopard, hippo, zebra and various species of antelope. At the end of the day return to your hotel in Zimbabwe. Free time for dinner and overnight.
Breakfast. Today is our panoramic tour of Victoria Falls, first described in 1855 by the great traveller and explorer David Livingstone as the most divine sight he had ever seen. The Falls amaze to this day with their awesome power and beauty. The emerald waters of the Zambezi River plummet into a 130-foot precipice and crash into the opposite cliff in thousands of splashes of water. Below, tens of metres deep, the raging water is pinned down by the two high walls of the gorge and continues its way under a multitude of arches that now appear and now disappear. Free time for lunch. Afternoon time for rest or optional activities. Possibility to stroll around the town and visit the local market for handmade souvenirs. Optional helicopter flight over the waterfalls, bush walk with lions, cheetah ride or elephant ride, visit to a crocodile farm and more. In the evening you can enjoy a wonderful Boma dinner and show program with African music and dancing if you wish. Overnight .
